TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I strongly believe in fostering and nurturing a love for music in all of my students. No matter what level the student, I want them to understand the meaning of music in our lives and how they are connected to it. Throughout my teaching career, I have been very fortunate to have students who are motivated and curious about the world. In my own musical development, I have been blessed to have inspiring music teachers and professors help me cultivate my understanding, passion and love for music. Each student is different and should be treated accordingly. As an educator, it is extremely important to be flexible and understanding of each student.

It is important to treat each student with respect, patience and kindness. Without these three important elements, I cannot earn their trust. This trust is an important element to successful learning, growth and musical development. My expectations are high because I believe in my students. They are expected  to be prepared, diligent and ready to learn. I take great pride in how I push my students to build on their strengths and weaknesses. I encourage them to fail so they can learn,  have ambition so they can achieve their goals,  strive and work hard for their dreams, and do what they believe is right.

If you are interested in lessons, I currently teach applied clarinet, saxophone, flute and beginning piano. I am also available for online lessons through Skype.
