Kristine to Present at ACCUTE 2025: Exploring Live Poetry and Music as Cultural Resistance

Kristine will present her conference paper, “Soundscapes of Expression: Live Poetry and Music in Performance,” as part of the panel “On and Off the Record: Audiotextual Performance and Cultural Resistance” at ACCUTE 2025, held during the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at George Brown College in Toronto.

The Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English (ACCUTE) is gearing up for an exciting 2025 conference, held from May 30th to June 2nd at George Brown College in Toronto. As part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, this year’s theme, "Reframing Togetherness," will bring together over 90 panels and 7 workshops, featuring a diverse range of scholars, writers, and creative voices.
Among the featured presenters is Dr. Kristine Dizon, who will share her paper, “Soundscapes of Expression: Live Poetry and Music in Performance”, as part of the panel “On and Off the Record: Audiotextual Performance and Cultural Resistance.”
The event will open with a plenary by award-winning poet and translator Erin Moure. Other keynote speakers include Dr. Urvashi Chakravarty, hosted in collaboration with the Canadian Society for Renaissance Studies, and Dr. Deanna Reder, presented in partnership with the Indigenous Literary Studies Association.

Conference attendees are encouraged to review the draft schedule and submit any corrections by Friday, March 21st. Registration is now open, with early-bird rates available. Participants are also invited to attend the Banquet event on the conference’s penultimate evening, featuring historical menu puzzle games led by literature and food scholar Nathalie Cooke from McGill University.
